Hotel Diamond is consistently praised for its luxurious downtown Chico location, stunning historic architecture, and exceptional service from a staff generally described as professional and warm. Guests report a highly enjoyable culinary experience at The Grill restaurant, and while some praise the privacy for events, others express worry about noise issues on certain floors.
The hotel was beautiful. The staff was kind. The breakfast was delicious. The problem was noise. Room 214 was so impacted by music playing nearby, that the bed vibrated with bass sounds. Earplugs did nothing to suppress the sound. The music did not stop until after 1:30 am. It was not a room that could be used for sleep. When I stepped out of the room I could still hear the noise down the entire hallway of the second floor. The staff felt the music was coming from a nearby establishment. I would not recommend the second floor or a weekend night if you want to sleep.
Extremely disappointing experience, especially for what was supposed to be a Christmas family gathering. The service at Hotel Diamond was rude, impatient, and unprofessional from the start. The waitress had a terrible attitude. I asked what cocktail she would recommend because it was my first time there. When I didn’t immediately decide, she showed zero patience and made it obvious we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. Our family was in town for a company christmas party, and while I’ll admit my brother-in-law was being a bit loud ( he yelled 'Merry Christmas' to everyone inside ) and childish ( trying to be funny by acting like he was walking down stairs in front of a window) , the situation was handled very poorly. Instead of giving a simple warning or calmly addressing the issue, the staff immediately escalated things by refusing to serve him and then kicking him out. There was no attempt to de-escalate, communicate, or handle the situation professionally. Hospitality is about respect and communication, and this place showed neither. Between the rude service and the unnecessary escalation, we won’t be returning and would strongly recommend others take their business somewhere else. If I could give the service a zero star, I would.
Wonderful stay at Hotel Diamond. A new friend joined my dog and I ,arriving in early afternoon and checked in. Pleased with the accommodations,we shoved off for Lake Oroville and the spillway, fish ladder… The lake and dam were impressive although the lake is in need of a few rain deluges. We returned to hotel, took a walk around neighborhood, admiring the old homes and commercial buildings. The Grill bar area was a wise , lively choice, This was Thanksgiving eve so lotsa folks were enjoying food and drinks. We split the Ocean Rissoto, very tasty yet a bit salty. The sautéed brussel sprouts were outstanding! We returned in the morning at 0630,yes the restaurant opens early and hardly any other early birds but the young chef had everything together and cooked our orders to perfection. The coffee was very good and perhaps a pastry selection would help but overall great experience. One odd detraction was a possibly inebriated diver using parking garage late at night as a racetrack, pretty sure he got busted as he was very persistent and loud.
I don't know what the rooms look like as my wife and I had brunch at "The Grill" for our 12th wedding anniversary, however I'm sure there top notch! Had brunch at The Grill on Sunday (they just brought that back :-) $1 mimosas (I had a beer) friendly, personable, friendly service from the walk in the door. We both had breakfast favorites which were reasonably priced, and BONUS the 49ers game was on two of the three big screens! The food was amazing, and after taking a look at the dinner menu, we will definitely be back! also since i like to explore old buildings i had the opportunity to find the private board room in the basement (perfect for a power point presentation) in a quite setting, with onsite catering :-) If you want to take brunch to the next level, check out The Grill at The Hotel Diamond in Chico! Parking is in a public lot but you have many spaces close to the hotel that are reserved. The building is beautiful. Downtown Chico Old time architecture. The building is beautiful and features many antiques. Price points are high on food and water and room service menus, but it is close to many downtown favorite restaurants and sights. We were a bridal party and the accommodations of space privacy and undisturbed getting ready was flawless. No questions asked to any in our group. Very kind staff and over all very aestheticly pleasing.
I was in town a week on business. This hotel was great. The only reason I did not give 5 stars across the board is the air conditioning went out twice. However when I asked the staff if there was something going on with the air they did not hesitate to give me a clear, concise answer about the situation, what was being done, and if there was any way they could help me. If only every business could learn this skill! Beautiful restoration, great restaurant, in a happening part of town. I would stay again with no hesitation.
The Diamond is by far the most beautiful hotel in Chico. It is the only place that I have stayed for years. Devon is absolutely amazing and has trained his staff to the highest level of costumer service.
From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the exceptional customer service. The staff is not only incredibly professional but also genuinely warm and personable—they truly go above and beyond to make every guest feel special. I stayed here during my wedding weekend, and the team went out of their way to ensure my experience was seamless and stress-free. They anticipated my needs before I even had to ask and made sure every detail of my stay was perfect. It was clear that they genuinely cared about making this important weekend as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The entire hotel is spotless, with a level of cleanliness that is rare to find. Every space, from the lobby to the rooms, was immaculate, making for a truly relaxing and luxurious experience. If you’re looking for a hotel that combines elegance, top-tier service, and a personal touch, look no further than the Diamond Hotel. They made my wedding weekend unforgettable, and I can’t recommend them highly enough!
Hotel Diamond, located in the heart of Chico is a perfect place to stay for travelers and locals alike. This was our second stay, celebrating our anniversary. The place is beautiful, the staff is super friendly and dinner and breakfast at The Grill was delicious. I highly recommend The Diamond Hotel.
Got a room for my Wife’s Birthday, the room was so nice and clean and comfortable. The Bar and Grill Drown stairs was incredible. Went down for breakfast and both had the prime rib eggs Benedict and rosemary potatoes and perfect combination. We will definitely be back for another stay.
